SOVA | Now an Amazon Best Seller is a fast paced, thrilling, and emotionally rich science fiction adventure story set in near future Ukraine.
In a world shattered by war, one boy’s courage could change everything.
The year is 2036. The Rusviet Empire’s relentless army of AI war machines has all but conquered Ukraine, crushing anything and anyone who stands before them. Humanity’s last hope lies hidden beneath a hill beside a forgotten orphanage.
Twelve-year-old Dimitri never expected to find anything extraordinary as he heard the Rusviet soldiers coming for him —until he hears the voice.
“Dimitri… come closer.”
It wasn’t a command. It was something more. Something... familiar. The massive metallic frame shifted, and a cockpit hatch slowly began to open with a hiss, revealing a dark interior. The blue glow from inside the machine pulsed softly, almost inviting.
Bound together by fate, Dimitri and Sova form an unlikely alliance. With the help of a Ukrainian special forces operative and two wisecracking Sentinels, they face impossible odds to stand against the might of the Rusviet Empire.
But as the war rages on, Dimitri discovers that he must confront his own weaknesses – or face destroying them all.
Sova is a ground breaking near-future science fiction adventure that will leave you breathless.

A note from the Author
As a self published debut author, the journey to writing this book has been 10 years in the making. I had been tossing around an idea where an advanced AI robot lay buried in a hill, forgotten, while a war raged on. I guess life got in the way and the concept remained buried, like the robot itself.
Fast forward to 2024, as the conflict in Ukraine dominated the news, the story of a buried robot on a distant planet moved to a more grounded, near future story set in Ukraine. I felt it would be too political referring to Russia as the invaders, I shifted the storyline to the Rusviet Empire, which succeeds the current political arrangement with Putin at the helm. To add some plausible continuity, I decided it was countless peace treaties that that were broken between present day and 2026 where the story is set.
At its heart, Sova is about more than just battles and AI machines. It’s about finding strength in adversity, the bond between unlikely allies, and hope in the face of overwhelming odds.
The journey of bringing this story to life has been deeply personal for me. It combines my love of sci-fi, my interest in geopolitics, and the inspiration I draw from my Son Williams’s experience with Beckwith Weidermann, and his determination and courage.
Stephen Beath is the founder of Kiss and Makeup (K & MU Limited), a sleep deprived father of 2 and gym junkie. He also loves a good sci-fi.
This has a great storyline, awesome plot, excellent characters.
I really enjoyed this book. I bought it for my son who loves robots. But I enjoyed reading it to him. Special bonus my son also have Beckwith Weidermann.
